LocationThe Negombo Lagoon, covering an area of 35 square kilometres, is the largest on the west coast of Sri Lanka and is densely populated by water birds such as cormorants, herons, egrets, gulls, terns and other shorebirds. The lagoon also provides fishermen with their supply of crabs, shrimp and other shelled fish.

Muthurajawela is the largest saline coastal peat bog in Sri Lanka, located on the west coast (7003’N, 79055’E) between the Negombo lagoon and Kelani River. The marsh, together with the Negombo lagoon forms an integrated coastal wetland ecosystem (6,232 ha in total extent). A cruise along the Muthurajawela & Hamilton canal, built during the British period, will take you through a lush vegetation of mangrove rich in bird life and an occasional crocodile basking on the bank or on a log to enhance your excitement. The Hamilton canal opens into the vast expanse of the serene waters of the Negombo lagoon.
Amagi Lagoon offers a variety of facilities that ensure a result-driven meeting experience. Capable of accommodating up to 150 people, seating arrangements for meetings and conferences can be made in a number of ways - board room, cluster, U-shaped, classroom or theatre. A memorable and an exciting boat safari along the historical Dutch canal interconnecting vast expanse of large water bodies shaded by mangroves – an ideal habitat for a large number of water birds such as Kingfishers, Herons, Egrets and Brahmini kites. Water monitors may also be seen either swimming placidly by the side of the boat, with flicking tongues or resting on trees. Also we can see the “tight rope walk” of the toddy taper and learn about the toddy industry, which will no doubt be an interesting and thrilling experience.
